Ski Preparation: Get Ready for the Slopes

Prepare balance, leg endurance and turning control before the first day back on snow.
Arrive prepared
Skiing asks for repeated leg work, balance under changing forces and enough endurance to maintain technique throughout the day. Building these qualities before a trip helps the first sessions feel more controlled.
- Develop squat and lateral leg endurance.
- Practise stable single-leg and side-to-side balance.
- Train the core to resist unnecessary rotation.
- Build aerobic capacity with progressive intervals.
Rehearse the turn pattern
Dry-land lateral training gives skiers an opportunity to practise rhythm and pressure transfer away from snow. Keep the movement smooth and symmetrical before adding speed.
Build towards the season
Begin several weeks before your trip with two or three manageable sessions each week. Increase duration gradually, retain recovery days and include mobility work for ankles, hips and the upper back.
